Button mushroom processing equipment

Separate fresh whole-cap packing from a wet industrial cutting and washing line.

Crop guide · Button mushroom preprocessing

Start with the retained product

Button mushrooms can be sold whole with trimmed stalk feet or as sliced ingredients. GEGE describes sorting, positioning, stalk-foot cutting, washing and crate handling. Its wet industrial reference does not require every fresh retail mushroom to be washed. Specify retained cap, stem length and downstream product first.

Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.

Choose the finished-product route

Fresh whole caps

Inspect → trim specified stalk feet → grade → supported pack.

Agree dry or wet cleaning rather than assuming washing.

Slices

Prepare/clean as specified → supported slicing → inspect → drain if wet → portion.

Define retained cap and stem.

Wet industrial input

Sort → position → trim feet → configured wash → inspect/drain → downstream processing.

Washing is not cooking or preservation.

Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.

Washing: decide whether the route is wet

GEGE · Manufacturer mushroom-line photograph; wet industrial route

GEGE

GEGE mushroom-line photograph. Its industrial sequence includes sorting, positioning, stalk-foot cutting and washing. This does not require every fresh-pack mushroom to follow a wet route.

Separate substrate and retained mushrooms. GEGE lists washing within an industrial line; fresh-pack requirements may instead use dry debris removal. If wet processing is chosen, trial cap bruising, retention and supported discharge. Root brushing is not a suitable default for caps.

Include water filling and management, draining, rinse arrangements and cleaning access in the quotation. No chemical dose, microbial reduction or ready-to-eat result is established by a machine image or application list.

Trimming: position stalk feet before the agreed cut

GEGE describes positioning before cutting. Its film shows supported mushrooms beside circular blades and guides. Specify retained stem length and separated foot waste. A line photograph does not prove that every mushroom is correctly positioned.

Cutting: bypass slicing for whole caps

For slices, test cap orientation, firmness and blade support. Xinhai lists mushroom slicing equipment; this separate manufacturer image is not a component of the photographed GEGE line. Compare split caps and useful fragments in an actual trial.

Sorting: separate appearance from dimensions

Herbort Inspection Belt 85 · Manufacturer workshop photograph; manual inspection reference

Herbort Inspection Belt 85

Herbort manual inspection reference. Arrange actual button mushroom surfaces for viewing; no automatic turning, optical grading or internal-defect detection is inferred.

Agree cap opening, visible damage, stem retention and size. Arrange mushrooms so relevant surfaces are visible. A manual inspection conveyor does not establish optical detection or measured grade yield.

Dewatering: drain only the selected wet product

Check free water after transfer and holding on the industrial wet route. Dry fresh-pack mushrooms do not need dewatering simply because the guide includes this stage. Trial any proposed method against bruising and broken caps.

Agree the free-water and damage assessment after a realistic hold, then check the next transfer and doser. Surface-water removal differs from thermal drying, cooking and sterilisation.

Packaging: support caps through wrapping

HOPAK B Type flow wrapper with supported infeed conveyor
HOPAK B Type · Manufacturer equipment reference; exact feeder and pack require confirmation

HOPAK B Type

HOPAK lists button, shiitake, oyster, enoki and king oyster applications. This machine-family reference requires the actual product, tray, feeder and seal trial.

HOPAK lists mushroom flow-wrapping applications. Match tray height, portion and feed spacing to actual caps. Whole mushrooms and loose slices need different dosing. The wrapper image does not establish a tray filler, MAP recipe or shelf life.

If MAP is proposed, obtain the exact gas-handling hardware, film, seals and distribution brief. A general bagger does not establish a gas recipe, shelf life or every optional configuration.

GEGE places positioning before stalk-foot cutting in its mushroom line. Compare support and retained stem length. The wet industrial line is not a requirement to wash all fresh retail mushrooms.

Prepare a button mushroom equipment trial brief

  1. Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
  2. Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
  3. Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
  4. Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
  5. Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.

Questions before choosing button mushroom equipment

Must all button mushrooms pass through a washer?

No universal route is specified. Agree fresh-pack or wet industrial input and the buyer standard; the GEGE wet-line reference does not make washing mandatory.
