Garlic processing equipment

Separate bulb breaking, clove peeling and slicing or mincing when specifying a garlic line.

Crop guide · Garlic preprocessing

Start with the retained product

Whole garlic bulbs, peeled intact cloves and sliced or minced ingredients are different products. A clove peeler does not necessarily split bulbs or remove root plates. Chenyue describes a pneumatic peeling arrangement and separately offered garlic-separation equipment; the complete upstream and downstream scope must be specified.

Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.

Choose the finished-product route

Whole dry bulbs

Receive → clean/trim by the agreed dry route → inspect/grade → suitable whole-bulb pack.

Bypass bulb breaking and clove peeling.

Whole peeled cloves

Separate bulbs if required → feed suitable cloves → pneumatic peeling → inspect/trim → configured finish → portion.

Confirm clove preparation and air treatment rather than assuming wet soaking is required.

Slices or minced garlic

Peel/inspect → specified slicing or mincing → inspect → configured portioning/packing.

A vegetable dicer reference is not proof of a garlic-paste process or preservation system.

Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.

Washing: keep dry peeling distinct from a wet wash

The Chenyue reference uses compressed air for skin removal. Ask for incoming clove moisture and preparation requirements. Do not soak cloves by default before a dry pneumatic stage. Any subsequent washing needs its own water, drainage and product specification.

Include water filling and management, draining, rinse arrangements and cleaning access in the quotation. No chemical dose, microbial reduction or ready-to-eat result is established by a machine image or application list.

Trimming: separate the bulb and clove duties

Chenyue

Pneumatic clove-peeling reference. Confirm suitable separated input, air treatment, skin collection and the scope of any separate bulb-separation equipment.

Confirm whether delivery includes bulb separation, skin aspiration, clove peeling and root-end touch-up. The manufacturer offers separation equipment separately. Its peeler image does not prove that whole bulbs enter and saleable cloves leave one machine.

Cutting: choose intact slices or deliberate size reduction

KRONEN KUJ-V · Manufacturer equipment reference; prepared-input cutting with crop-specific tooling

KRONEN KUJ-V

A fine-cutting family for prepared inputs. Specify garlic input fit, tools and desired pieces. This is not proof of whole rings, paste texture or any downstream preservation process.

Cloves need support against slipping and the correct knife. Supply slice-thickness samples or a separate minced/paste brief. The general KUJ-V reference requires actual garlic input and tooling confirmation; no paste fineness or output is inferred.

Sorting: inspect skins, root ends and damaged cloves

Herbort Inspection Belt 85 · Manufacturer workshop photograph; manual inspection reference

Herbort Inspection Belt 85

Manual inspection reference: compare product presentation, visibility, good-product collection and rejects. It does not establish automatic grading or internal-defect detection.

Plan visibility and collection after peeling. Compare intact peeled cloves, skin remnants, split/crushed pieces and rejected input. The film shows collected cloves but does not measure peel completeness or damage rate.

Dewatering: only add water removal when water was added

A dry pneumatic route need not include a spin-dryer. If cloves or cuts are washed, trial drainage and the supplier-confirmed method against small-piece loss and bruising. Surface dewatering does not preserve garlic or validate a finished pack.

Agree the free-water and damage assessment after a realistic hold, then check the next transfer and doser. Surface-water removal differs from thermal drying, cooking and sterilisation.

Packaging: match feeding and seals to the retained form

KRONEN FLEX L vertical bagging machine
KRONEN FLEX L · Manufacturer equipment reference; feeding, pack and options need confirmation

KRONEN FLEX L

Compare the actual garlic feeder, doser, pack and seal clearance. Whole products, bunches and pastes can need different equipment; the image does not establish every feeding or MAP option.

Whole bulbs require different handling from loose cloves or minced product. Trial clove bridging, weight, separation and seal contamination. A general bagger does not establish a paste filler, vacuum preservation method or shelf-life result.

If MAP is proposed, obtain the exact gas-handling hardware, film, seals and distribution brief. A general bagger does not establish a gas recipe, shelf life or every optional configuration.

Inspect the pneumatic peeler and collected cloves

The short garlic film connects the air-peeling equipment to collected cloves. It does not show a complete bulb-separation line or measure remaining skin, damage, air quality or food safety.

Prepare a garlic equipment trial brief

  1. Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
  2. Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
  3. Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
  4. Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
  5. Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.

Questions before choosing garlic equipment

Can whole bulbs be fed directly to a clove peeler?

Only if the offered system explicitly includes the necessary bulb-separation and preparation duties. Ask for an input-to-output demonstration with your actual garlic rather than relying on the peeler name.
