Crop guide · Green bean preprocessing
Start with the retained product
Green beans here are snap or French beans with the pod retained. FEMIA identifies dedicated green-bean trimmers and a C32 cutter: end trimming and cross-cutting are separate duties. Shelling peas or removing mature dry beans would destroy this intended whole-pod presentation and belongs to a different route.
Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.
Choose the finished-product route
Whole trimmed pods
Inspect → remove unwanted stems/ends → configured wash → drain → grade → pack.
Agree one-end or two-end trim and retained pod length.
Cross-cut beans
Prepare/trim → align → cut to specified length → separate/inspect → drain → dose.
Short end pieces and uncut long pods need a clear reject rule.
Inputs for freezing or cooking
Prepare/wash → trim/cut as specified → inspect → dedicated downstream treatment.
Blanching, freezing and preservation are outside a raw preparation cutter.
Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.
Washing: retain narrow pods at screens

KRONEN HEWA 3800
General washing-family reference, not a confirmed green bean installation. Confirm size, retention, water movement, loading and outfeed for the chosen route.
Trial the smallest pods, stem fragments and soil load. Compare washing before and after trimming with the intended line. The general washer reference needs appropriate retention and discharge; it does not establish a validated green-bean process.
Include water filling and management, draining, rinse arrangements and cleaning access in the quotation. No chemical dose, microbial reduction or ready-to-eat result is established by a machine image or application list.
Trimming: use a true pod-end trimming duty

FEMIA E62F
FEMIA describes dedicated green-bean end trimming. Confirm missed ends and excessive trim. This illustration is not evidence of yardlong-bean compatibility.
FEMIA describes drum-based green-bean trimming with separate waste collection. Define acceptable missed ends and excessive trim, including curved pods. Its dedicated trimmer image differs from a cutter that simply makes repeated sections.
Cutting: align pods for useful cross-cuts

FEMIA C32
FEMIA describes alignment before cutting green beans to length. Confirm your pod range and useful sections. This machine is distinct from the Fengxiang film.
FEMIA describes C32 alignment before cutting to length. Confirm the actual incoming pod range and accepted sections. The official Fengxiang film is a separate conveyor-cutting example, not the FEMIA machine. Compare orientation, incomplete cuts, fines and retained useful length.
Sorting: separate quality, size and trim checks

Herbort Inspection Belt 85
Manual inspection reference. Confirm visibility, useful retention and separate rejects for green bean. It does not establish optical grading or internal-defect detection.
Inspect visible damage and foreign matter as well as missed ends and long uncut pods. Specify where rework returns. The general manual belt is not an optical sorter or proof of automatic untrimmed-bean rejection.
Dewatering: drain pods without losing cut pieces
Whole pods and short sections need different screen and transfer checks. Use a supplier-confirmed drainage or dewatering method, measuring retained pieces and free water after holding. This page does not prescribe a leafy spin cycle.
Agree the free-water and damage assessment after a realistic hold, then check the next transfer and doser. Surface-water removal differs from thermal drying, cooking and sterilisation.
Packaging: dose the required pod format

KRONEN FLEX L
General packaging-family reference. Confirm the actual green bean feeder, doser, pack and seals. It does not establish whole-fruit fit, tray sealing, frozen packing or a MAP recipe.
Whole pods can bridge, while short cuts can escape gaps or collect in seals. Confirm the feeder, weighing and transfer drops. The bagger reference does not establish blanching, frozen packing or every MAP configuration.
If MAP is proposed, obtain the exact gas-handling hardware, film, seals and distribution brief. A general bagger does not establish a gas recipe, shelf life or every optional configuration.
See aligned bean pods entering a conveyor cutter
Fengxiang identifies beans among the FC-306D applications. This is a conveyor-cutting demonstration, not FEMIA drum trimming. The exact bean variety is not independently identified: compare actual green beans or yardlong beans for length support, tangling and accepted sections. No automatic end recognition or pod shelling is established.

Prepare a green bean equipment trial brief
- Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
- Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
- Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
- Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
- Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.
Questions before choosing green bean equipment
Is shelling the same as trimming green beans?
No. Green-bean trimming retains the edible pod and removes specified ends. Shelling removes the pod to retain seeds and is a different product route.
