Crop guide · Lotus root preprocessing
Start with the retained product
Lotus root is an edible rhizome with nodes and internal air channels. Exterior brushing, optional skin removal and cleaning exposed channels are different duties. Choose whole segments, rings or sticks first. Bango shows actual lotus roots on wet brush rollers; that view cannot establish cleanliness inside every channel.
Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.
Choose the finished-product route
Whole segments
Remove debris → wash → trim nodes and damaged ends → inspect → drain → pack.
Agree skin retention and external appearance.
Rings
Wash → trim → peel if required → supported cross-cut → inspect channels → rinse/drain → pack.
The cut face exposes cavities an exterior washer cannot inspect.
Sticks
Prepare clean segments → orient and cut → separate fragments → drain → dose.
Agree longitudinal orientation separately from ring slicing.
Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.
Washing: lift soil while retaining short segments

Chenyue
Chenyue root brush family. Lotus is a listed application; for water chestnut this is a layout reference, not an identified corm-peeling trial or proof of bud/root removal.
Compare brush contact, spray access and retention at gaps and discharge. Separate incoming mud from later rinsing. The Bango film shows rhizomes on rollers; examine cut channels as well as the outside during your actual soil-removal trial.
Include water filling and management, draining, rinse arrangements and cleaning access in the quotation. No chemical dose, microbial reduction or ready-to-eat result is established by a machine image or application list.
Trimming: treat nodes and peeling separately

KRONEN
KRONEN supported manual preparation with separate waste collection. Define retained lotus root tissue before selecting automation; this is not an automatic trimmer.
Remove specified nodes and damaged ends without unnecessary loss of useful rhizome. Chenyue lists lotus applications for its root brush-washer and peeler family. Establish whether the buyer wants skin retained or removed. A smooth exterior does not demonstrate clean internal channels.
Cutting: orient roots for rings or sticks

KRONEN GS 10-2
KRONEN general cutting-family reference, separate from any other maker in the film. Trial actual lotus root support, orientation and supplied tooling.
Crosswise slicing produces rings; longitudinal cutting produces a different shape and blade load. Trial fragile segments on supported tooling. Compare broken rings, ragged edges and useful short pieces. The general cutter photograph does not establish a supplied lotus fixture.
Sorting: inspect the newly exposed cut face

Herbort Inspection Belt 85
Herbort manual inspection reference. Arrange actual lotus root surfaces for viewing; no automatic turning, optical grading or internal-defect detection is inferred.
Check residual soil, damaged tissue and fragments after cutting. Turn or spread pieces so the channels can be seen. A manual inspection conveyor does not provide automatic cavity inspection or internal-defect detection.
Dewatering: drain channels as well as surfaces
Agree collection orientation and supported transfer after rinsing. Water can remain inside open channels despite a dry-looking outside. Trial the actual rings or sticks; do not assume a leafy centrifuge will preserve intact rings.
Agree the free-water and damage assessment after a realistic hold, then check the next transfer and doser. Surface-water removal differs from thermal drying, cooking and sterilisation.
Packaging: choose a feeder for the retained form

KRONEN FLEX L
General bagging-family reference. Confirm actual lotus root feeding, portion, film and seals; no crop-specific doser, gas recipe or shelf-life result is established.
Whole segments, rings and sticks require different support and dosing. Check pieces trapped in seals and liquid entering the pack. The reference bagger does not establish a lotus-specific feeder, gas recipe or preserved product.
If MAP is proposed, obtain the exact gas-handling hardware, film, seals and distribution brief. A general bagger does not establish a gas recipe, shelf life or every optional configuration.
See wet brush contact on lotus-root segments
Bango shows actual lotus roots. Watch rolling contact and spray access, then inspect your cut channels separately. For the water-chestnut page this is a related root-washing layout reference only: lotus is shown, not an identified corm trial, bud/root cutter or corm peeler.

Current manufacturer links and source identity were checked. Confirm the offered version and configuration separately from historical demonstration footage. Prepare a lotus root equipment trial brief
- Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
- Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
- Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
- Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
- Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.
Questions before choosing lotus root equipment
Does exterior peeling clean internal lotus-root channels?
No. Inspect exposed channels and specify their cleaning separately. Exterior brushing does not prove cleanliness throughout the rhizome.
