Yardlong bean processing equipment

Control long flexible pods through alignment, trimming and cross-cutting.

Crop guide · Yardlong bean preprocessing

Start with the retained product

Yardlong beans are long edible cowpea pods rather than standard short French beans or dry cowpea seeds. Their length and flexibility change conveying and feed. A short-bean drum trimmer is not assumed suitable. Use actual long pods to confirm orientation, tangling and the accepted cut; the linked Fengxiang conveyor-cutter scope provides a family reference only.

Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.

Choose the finished-product route

Whole long pods

Inspect → trim ends if specified → configured wash → supported drain → align/bunch → pack.

Keep the agreed length and avoid dragging ends through gaps.

Short-cut ingredients

Prepare/wash → align and support → cross-cut → inspect/separate → drain → dose.

Compare useful sections, torn ends and tangles.

Prepared downstream inputs

Trim/cut to agreed form → inspect → dedicated cooking or preservation process.

A raw cutter does not supply blanching, cooking or freezing.

Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.

Washing: prevent tangling in water and transfers

KRONEN HEWA 3800 · Manufacturer equipment image; general washing-family reference

KRONEN HEWA 3800

General washing-family reference, not a confirmed yardlong bean installation. Confirm size, retention, water movement, loading and outfeed for the chosen route.

Trial long flexible pods with realistic loading. Compare gentle separation, screen retention and outfeed support. The general washer photograph does not establish that its standard setup will discharge a full-length yardlong bean without snagging.

Include water filling and management, draining, rinse arrangements and cleaning access in the quotation. No chemical dose, microbial reduction or ready-to-eat result is established by a machine image or application list.

Trimming: support the complete pod during trimming

KRONEN

Supported manual preparation with separate waste collection. Define the retained yardlong bean ends, skin, core or pod before selecting automation.

Define retained ends and any string-removal requirement. Manual alignment can establish acceptance samples. Do not transfer FEMIA short-green-bean drum-trimmer suitability to yardlong beans without a specific supplier trial.

Cutting: align before setting cross-cut length

KRONEN GS 10-2 · Manufacturer equipment reference

KRONEN GS 10-2

General belt-cutting reference for prepared input. Confirm actual yardlong bean support, accepted pieces and tooling; no whole-fruit splitting or automatic peeling is established.

The conveyor-cutting family film illustrates supported presentation. It is not an identified yardlong-bean acceptance run. Trial the complete hanging length, folded pods, bridging and inconsistent cuts, then compare actual useful sections rather than the nominal knife interval alone.

Sorting: inspect tangles and incomplete cuts

Herbort Inspection Belt 85 · Manufacturer workshop photograph; manual inspection reference

Herbort Inspection Belt 85

Manual inspection reference. Confirm visibility, useful retention and separate rejects for yardlong bean. It does not establish optical grading or internal-defect detection.

Check visible pod condition before cutting, then joined pieces, excessive fines and oversize sections. Define rework collection separately. The general manual inspection conveyor does not automatically untangle pods or verify every internal seed condition.

Dewatering: keep long ends away from drainage outlets

Whole pods need supported drainage; cut sections need a separately confirmed method with retention of the smallest useful pieces. Inspect tangling and broken pods after discharge. No standard short-bean or leafy-vegetable programme is assumed.

Agree the free-water and damage assessment after a realistic hold, then check the next transfer and doser. Surface-water removal differs from thermal drying, cooking and sterilisation.

Packaging: distinguish long bunches from cut portions

KRONEN FLEX L vertical bagging machine
KRONEN FLEX L · Manufacturer equipment reference; feeding, pack and options need confirmation

KRONEN FLEX L

General packaging-family reference. Confirm the actual yardlong bean feeder, doser, pack and seals. It does not establish whole-fruit fit, tray sealing, frozen packing or a MAP recipe.

Whole yardlong beans may need alignment and bunch support before bagging. Loose cuts need a different doser and hopper trial. The pictured bagger does not establish long-bunch capability; confirm pack length, seal clearance and product supports.

If MAP is proposed, obtain the exact gas-handling hardware, film, seals and distribution brief. A general bagger does not establish a gas recipe, shelf life or every optional configuration.

Fengxiang identifies beans among the FC-306D applications. This is a conveyor-cutting demonstration, not FEMIA drum trimming. The exact bean variety is not independently identified: compare actual green beans or yardlong beans for length support, tangling and accepted sections. No automatic end recognition or pod shelling is established.

Prepare a yardlong bean equipment trial brief

  1. Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
  2. Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
  3. Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
  4. Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
  5. Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.

Questions before choosing yardlong bean equipment

Can a standard green-bean snipper be used without a trial?

No fit is established here. Long flexible yardlong pods can behave differently in drums, screens and transfers. Confirm the exact pod length and trimming route with the supplier.
