Write a vessel specification for the actual food
- Separate nominal volume, minimum working fill, maximum working fill and usable discharge.
- Define material viscosity, density, inclusions and permitted product damage.
- List agitation, ingredient charging, manways, sampling and outlet interfaces.
- State the intended heating/cooling duty and available utility conditions.
- Identify cleaning, access, instrumentation and controls in the equipment boundary.
Ask for the engineered offer
Request the selected material and finish, arrangement drawing, relevant vessel design ratings and inspection/documentation scope. A catalogue reference does not supply project pressure, vacuum or heat-transfer ratings. Specify these with the equipment engineer and receiving site.
Questions to settle before a quotation
- What impeller and working fill range support the agreed mixing result?
- How will heat transfer and temperature distribution be demonstrated for the actual recipe?
- Who supplies the connections, pumps, valves, controls and site installation?
Ask bidders to state trial material, accepted output, losses, utilities, changeover time and scope exclusions in writing. Compare the offered configuration using the same recipe and acceptance criteria.
