Identify every supplied process function
- List feed preparation, pumps, heating, holding, cooling and the receiving equipment.
- Assign instrumentation, controls and the agreed treatment/deviation handling requirements.
- Separate the product-side equipment from utility generation and utility piping.
- Define cleaning, changeover, sampling and maintenance interfaces.
- State who provides process validation, packaging-interface and finished-product release evidence.
Distinguish equipment and preservation scope
Plate, tubular and scraped-surface exchangers are heat-transfer components. A configured pasteurization or UHT system adds process functions whose scope must be documented. This procurement guide does not prescribe temperatures, holding times or a validated food-treatment recipe.
Questions to settle before a quotation
- Who supplies the complete process drawing, equipment list and control specification?
- What are the boundaries between thermal processing, filling, storage and product release?
- How will the exact offered configuration and process documentation be accepted?
Ask bidders to state trial material, accepted output, losses, utilities, changeover time and scope exclusions in writing. Compare the offered configuration using the same recipe and acceptance criteria.
