Beetroot processing equipment

Compare raw whole-root, peeled and cut routes while keeping cooking and preservation separate.

Crop guide · Beetroot preprocessing

Start with the retained product

Choose raw washed roots, raw peeled ingredients or cut pieces first. Cooking and preservation are separate decisions. Manufacturer references explicitly include beetroot in root-peeling and cutting families, while acceptance still depends on the actual retained product.

Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.

Choose the finished-product route

Washed raw roots

Trim unwanted tops/root material → soil-removal wash → inspect → drain → pack.

Keep a peeler bypass if skin is required.

Raw peeled beetroot

Pre-clean → trim → peel → inspect/touch-up → wash/drain → pack.

Agree useful peeled yield and remaining trim with representative roots.

Slices or dices

Prepare/peel if required → size input → cut → configured wash/dewater → dose.

Raw and cooked inputs need separate briefs; a sealed pack establishes neither cooking nor shelf stability.

Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.

Washing: separate soil removal and prepared-root washing

KRONEN water bunker and transfer belt beside a peeling unit
KRONEN · Manufacturer root pre-cleaning and transfer arrangement reference

KRONEN

Compare the water path, loading, product retention and outfeed with actual beetroot. An illustrated machine or line stage is not an independently measured crop-cleaning result.

KRONEN GEWA 3800 ECO washing machine with vibration outfeed
KRONEN GEWA 3800 ECO · Manufacturer equipment reference from the root-line page

KRONEN GEWA 3800 ECO

Compare the water path, loading, product retention and outfeed with actual beetroot. An illustrated machine or line stage is not an independently measured crop-cleaning result.

Specify incoming soil, trim load and clean/dirty transition. Include colour carryover and cleaning between batches in the trial. Visible water colour is not a validated safety or shelf-life result.

Include water filling and management, draining, rinse arrangements and cleaning access in the quotation. No chemical dose, microbial reduction or ready-to-eat result is established by a machine image or application list.

Trimming: inspect after peeling and touch-up

KRONEN PL 40K abrasive root peeling machine
KRONEN PL 40K · Manufacturer equipment reference; actual root size and skin-on/peeled route need confirmation

KRONEN PL 40K

Use only when the retained-product brief requires peeling. Carrot and beetroot are explicitly listed;exact daikon and small red-radish setups need confirmation. Preserve a bypass for skin-on roots.

PL 40K explicitly lists beetroot. Define top/tail removal and accepted peel remnants. Evaluate retained useful product and surface finish after touch-up rather than transferring a catalogue rating into a beetroot yield promise.

Cutting: specify raw or cooked input before choosing tools

KRONEN GS 10-2 feed and exposed cutting assembly detail
KRONEN GS 10-2 · Mechanical-detail photograph; follow supplier guarding and isolation procedures

KRONEN GS 10-2

The detail exposes the feed and cutting assembly for explanation. Check actual beetroot support and tooling. Operation and service must follow the supplier guarding and isolation procedure.

KRONEN KUJ-V cube strip and slice cutting machine
KRONEN KUJ-V · Manufacturer equipment reference; fine cutting differs from head floretting

KRONEN KUJ-V

A fine-cutting family for prepared inputs. It does not remove an intact head core. Specify input fit, tooling and desired pieces before adopting it for beetroot.

The KUJ-V page includes beetroot; GS 10-2 footage offers another cutting-family reference. Confirm root preparation, input fit, tooling and output. Do not infer cooked-product suitability from raw-root footage.

Sorting: inspect at the stage where the issue is visible

KRONEN roller inspection table for whole roots
KRONEN · Manufacturer roller-table reference; not a verified optical detector or size grader

KRONEN

Compare presentation, operator visibility, good-product collection and rejects. This reference does not prove automated detection, grading or a beetroot rejection rate.

Assess whole-root surface, peel quality and final cuts separately. Define useful rework and rejects. A roller table does not establish internal-defect or foreign-object detection.

Dewatering: match free-water removal to the ingredient

KRONEN KS-100 PLUS open lid and removable perforated basket
KRONEN KS-100 PLUS · Manufacturer basket-detail photograph; actual crop programme requires a trial

KRONEN KS-100 PLUS

Compare loading, distribution, unloading and retained free water using actual beetroot. The removable-basket photograph is a family reference, not a validated crop programme.

Whole roots may need draining; cut pieces require a configured method. Inspect broken pieces, fines and free water after handling. Surface dewatering does not cook or sterilise beetroot.

Agree the free-water and damage assessment after a realistic hold, then check the next transfer and doser. Surface-water removal differs from thermal drying, cooking and sterilisation.

Packaging: keep raw packing separate from preservation

KRONEN FLEX L vertical bagging machine
KRONEN FLEX L · Manufacturer equipment reference; feeding, pack and options need confirmation

KRONEN FLEX L

Compare the actual beetroot doser, drop, pack and seal clearance. Whole products or bunches may require different presentation. This reference does not establish every feeding or MAP option.

State raw/cooked input, pack, dose and distribution conditions. Trial moisture and product at seals. Vacuum, MAP, cooking and thermal processing require their own supplied configuration and validated process.

If MAP is proposed, obtain the exact gas-handling hardware, film, seals and distribution brief. A general bagger does not establish a gas recipe, shelf life or every optional configuration.

Compare feed and tool changes across products

This official multi-product GS 10-2 film is a machine-family reference. It does not establish an exact daikon, small red-radish or beetroot trial. Confirm each retained root form, input fit and cutting tool separately.

KRONEN Food processing · Official manufacturer footage

  • Around 1:23: An operator presents prepared dark-red roots to the feed belt.
  • Around 1:50: Pale cut pieces pass the visible cutting assembly.

Current manufacturer links and source identity were checked. Confirm the offered version and configuration separately from historical demonstration footage. Original English watch notes provide a text alternative; no full transcript is reproduced. Playback is on YouTube. No crop capacity, yield, cleaning, damage or shelf-life guarantee is inferred from the film.

Prepare a beetroot equipment trial brief

  1. Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
  2. Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
  3. Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
  4. Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
  5. Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.

Questions before choosing beetroot equipment

Does a sealed beetroot pack mean the product is cooked?

No. Raw preparation, cooking and preservation are separate operations. Specify actual product state and the downstream process.
