Pear processing equipment

Choose whole fresh fruit, peeled halves or cut ingredients before selecting shape-dependent tooling.

Crop guide · Pear preprocessing

Start with the retained product

Pear-shaped European fruit and round Asian pears need different feeding and support checks. Whole-fruit grading differs from peeling, core removal and prepared-piece handling. PND shows a PEARL6 line in operation. CTI separately lists a corer for previously peeled pears; it is not the machine in the PND film and does not supply upstream peeling.

Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.

Choose the finished-product route

Whole fresh pears

Inspect → configured cleaning → dry surface as needed → grade → supported pack.

Retain skin and fruit presentation.

Peeled halves

Clean → suitable peeling → stem/blossom and core removal → halve → inspect → drain/pack.

Agree shape, ripeness and retained flesh.

Slices or dice

Prepare retained fruit → orient and cut → inspect → manage free liquid → portion.

A complete puree or canning line needs separate downstream equipment.

Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.

Washing: match cleaning to skin and ripeness

KRONEN HEWA 3800 · Manufacturer equipment image; general washing-family reference

KRONEN HEWA 3800

KRONEN washing-family reference, not a confirmed pear configuration. Define input condition, retained pieces, water handling and supported discharge in an actual trial.

Trial surface debris, handling pressure and supported discharge on the actual cultivar. A general washer is only a layout reference. Separate whole-fruit surface cleaning from a later prepared-piece rinse; no universal colour or storage treatment is prescribed.

Include water filling and management, draining, rinse arrangements and cleaning access in the quotation. No chemical dose, microbial reduction or ready-to-eat result is established by a machine image or application list.

Trimming: separate peeling from coring

CTI EPC pear corer with individual blue fruit supports
CTI EPC · Manufacturer equipment image; receives previously peeled pears, not the PND film machine

CTI EPC

CTI EPC receives previously peeled pears. This is a different manufacturer and machine from the PND PEARL6 film; it does not establish upstream peeling. Trial actual fruit shape and retained core boundary.

PND identifies PEARL6 for pear peeling and preparation. CTI explicitly describes its EPC corer as receiving previously peeled pears. The CTI image therefore does not represent a peeler or the PND film. Define stem end, blossom end, core boundary and useful flesh with actual pear shapes.

Cutting: choose halves, segments or dice

KRONEN GS 10-2 belt cutting machine and infeed conveyor
KRONEN GS 10-2 · Manufacturer equipment reference

KRONEN GS 10-2

KRONEN supported cutting-family reference. Confirm current tooling and actual pear suitability require confirmation. No every-cut attachment or exact version equivalence is inferred.

State orientation, core removal and required skin retention before selecting tooling. Prepared pears need support that accommodates ripeness. The general cutter photograph does not establish every pear shape or attachment; compare broken pieces and useful flesh in waste.

Sorting: grade before and after preparation

Herbort Inspection Belt 85 · Manufacturer workshop photograph; manual inspection reference

Herbort Inspection Belt 85

Herbort manual inspection reference. Present actual pear surfaces for viewing; no automatic turning, species identification or internal scanning is established.

Whole fruit can be graded by buyer-defined size and visible appearance; prepared pieces need core-residue and damaged-tissue inspection. A manual belt does not measure internal ripeness or soluble solids. Keep those measurements separate from visible grading.

Dewatering: manage surface water and released juice separately

Whole skin-on pears and cut pieces present different drainage requirements. Inspect free liquid after the actual hold and transfer, without squeezing soft fruit. A leafy spin cycle is not specified, and drainage is not thermal drying.

Agree the free-water and damage assessment after a realistic hold, then check the next transfer and doser. Surface-water removal differs from thermal drying, cooking and sterilisation.

Packaging: support fruit through the selected pack

KRONEN FLEX L vertical bagging machine
KRONEN FLEX L · Manufacturer equipment reference; feeding, pack and options need confirmation

KRONEN FLEX L

General packaging-family reference. Confirm actual pear feeding, portion and seals. It does not establish a tray filler, paste filler, gas recipe or shelf-life result.

Whole pears may need trays and protective support; halves and dice need compatible portioning. Confirm bruising, seals and carryover in an actual pack test. The reference bagger does not supply a whole-fruit grader, tray filler or validated preserved-fruit process.

If MAP is proposed, obtain the exact gas-handling hardware, film, seals and distribution brief. A general bagger does not establish a gas recipe, shelf life or every optional configuration.

See individual pear supports and separated peel below

PND identifies this PEARL6 pear-processing line. Compare individual fruit support and separation of useful product from waste. The CTI EPC image on this page is a different maker and duty: it receives previously peeled pears. No equivalence, output rate or useful-yield result is adopted.

Prepare a pear equipment trial brief

  1. Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
  2. Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
  3. Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
  4. Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
  5. Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.

Questions before choosing pear equipment

Does the illustrated CTI pear corer also peel the incoming fruit?

CTI specifies previously peeled pears as input. Upstream peeling is a separate duty. The PND PEARL6 film and CTI EPC equipment image describe different manufacturers and configurations.
