Quince processing equipment

Separate firm-fruit preparation, core removal, cut pieces and puree production.

Crop guide · Quince preprocessing

Start with the retained product

Quince has a firm pome-fruit structure and seed-bearing core. Define cultivar, condition and intended whole, sliced or puree ingredient before choosing support and cutting tools. Urschel explicitly lists quince puree from crushed fruit for its Comitrol family. The official animation explains the reduction head; it is a technical illustration, not footage of a quince trial or evidence of whole-fruit coring.

Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.

Choose the finished-product route

Whole fruit

Inspect → configured surface cleaning → trim as specified → grade → pack.

Agree retained skin and external appearance.

Prepared pieces

Clean → peel if required → remove core/seed-bearing tissue → supported cutting → inspect → pack or downstream process.

A pear peeler cannot be assumed to fit irregular firm quince.

Puree input

Prepare retained fruit → suitable crushing/pre-cut → configured fine reduction → separately specified downstream process and filling.

The microcut stage receives prepared input, not an unqualified whole fruit.

Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.

Washing: remove surface debris without assuming peel removal

KRONEN HEWA 3800 · Manufacturer equipment image; general washing-family reference

KRONEN HEWA 3800

KRONEN washing-family reference, not a confirmed quince configuration. Define input condition, retained pieces, water handling and supported discharge in an actual trial.

Specify incoming fuzz or debris, skin retention and product support. Trial the proposed washer with actual firm irregular fruit. The general washing-family photo is not a verified quince installation and does not establish a peeling or colour-preservation process.

Include water filling and management, draining, rinse arrangements and cleaning access in the quotation. No chemical dose, microbial reduction or ready-to-eat result is established by a machine image or application list.

Trimming: define core and peel boundaries

KRONEN · Manufacturer workstation photograph; general preparation

KRONEN

KRONEN supported manual preparation table with separate waste collection. Define retained quince tissue; this is not an automatic peeler, leaf stripper or root recogniser.

Use accepted samples to specify stem/blossom removal, seed-bearing tissue and optional peeling. Manual preparation is illustrated where a dedicated quince configuration has not been established. An apple or pear application name alone does not prove quince fit; confirm fixture and useful loss.

Cutting: distinguish pieces from fine reduction

Urschel Comitrol 1700 size-reduction processor with upright motor and processing housing
Urschel Comitrol 1700 · Manufacturer equipment image; prepared-input reduction

Urschel Comitrol 1700

Urschel lists quince puree from crushed input. Confirm upstream preparation, selected reduction head and permitted feed. The official animation explains the mechanism, not a filmed quince test.

For slices or dice, trial the actual firm prepared fruit and tooling. Urschel lists quince puree from crushed input for the Comitrol family. Its photo and official animation explain fine reduction, not a corer or whole-fruit peeler. Obtain the correct upstream input preparation and head selection rather than feeding whole quince by assumption.

Sorting: inspect prepared tissue before further reduction

Herbort Inspection Belt 85 · Manufacturer workshop photograph; manual inspection reference

Herbort Inspection Belt 85

Herbort manual inspection reference. Present actual quince surfaces for viewing; no automatic turning, species identification or internal scanning is established.

Look for retained core material, damaged tissue and the required piece form before puree preparation. Fine reduction does not substitute for upstream sorting. The manual belt supports visible inspection but provides no automatic seed or internal-defect guarantee.

Dewatering: control free water or juice for the next duty

Whole fruit, cut pieces and crushed input have different handling requirements. Agree drainage and transfer into the actual next machine. Do not confuse removing rinse water with concentrating puree, thermal drying or validating a preserved product.

Agree the free-water and damage assessment after a realistic hold, then check the next transfer and doser. Surface-water removal differs from thermal drying, cooking and sterilisation.

Packaging: specify whole-fruit or ingredient filling separately

KRONEN FLEX L vertical bagging machine
KRONEN FLEX L · Manufacturer equipment reference; feeding, pack and options need confirmation

KRONEN FLEX L

General packaging-family reference. Confirm actual quince feeding, portion and seals. It does not establish a tray filler, paste filler, gas recipe or shelf-life result.

A bagging-family photo explains a possible dry or piece pack, not a puree filler. Puree requires compatible collection, transfer and filling equipment matched to the separately defined process. No gas recipe, thermal treatment or shelf life is established by the size-reduction reference.

If MAP is proposed, obtain the exact gas-handling hardware, film, seals and distribution brief. A general bagger does not establish a gas recipe, shelf life or every optional configuration.

This official manufacturer animation explains the Comitrol 1700 mechanism. Urschel separately lists quince puree from crushed fruit. It is a technical illustration, not a live quince run, a whole-fruit feeding instruction, a corer or proof of a particular final texture. Confirm upstream preparation and the selected head in an actual product trial.

No crop capacity, yield, cleaning, damage or shelf-life guarantee is inferred from the film.

Prepare a quince equipment trial brief

  1. Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
  2. Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
  3. Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
  4. Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
  5. Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.

Questions before choosing quince equipment

Can whole quince be fed directly into any Comitrol head?

No such input is established here. Urschel lists puree from crushed fruit; the machine configuration and permitted feed must be confirmed. Core removal and upstream preparation remain separate duties.
