Taro processing equipment

Choose whole-corm, peeled-corm or cut-ingredient preparation with clear size and peel acceptance.

Crop guide · Taro preprocessing

Start with the retained product

Taro corms and smaller cormels need their own incoming size and surface brief. Do not use a leafy taro route or a potato result as proof of taro-corm performance. Chenyue lists taro for its root brush family; actual tools, peel coverage and prepared-product handling still require verification.

Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.

Choose the finished-product route

Whole washed corms

Receive/inspect → remove loose debris → configured wash → grade → drain → pack.

Retain the requested surface; peeling and cutting are bypassed.

Peeled corms or portions

Pre-clean → trim/section if allowed → peel → touch-up/inspect → rinse/drain → portion.

Define accepted skin/fibrous remnants and useful trim loss.

Slices, sticks or dices

Prepare/peel → size/feed → configured cutting → wash/dewater → downstream manufacture.

Confirm the finished ingredient and subsequent cooking or preservation separately.

Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.

Washing: retain small cormels while removing debris

Chenyue root brush washer and peeler with stainless body and outfeed chute
Chenyue · Manufacturer equipment photograph; listed sweet potato, cassava, yam and taro family; actual brush configuration requires a trial

Chenyue

Chenyue lists taro in its root washer/peeler family. Select cleaning or peeling brushes against retained-skin samples; the photograph does not establish crop settings or measured output.

Compare screen and roller gaps with the smallest accepted material. Ask how lodged soil and removed surface material leave the machine. Chenyue lists taro, but no cleaning result for your size mix is supplied by the image.

Include water filling and management, draining, rinse arrangements and cleaning access in the quotation. No chemical dose, microbial reduction or ready-to-eat result is established by a machine image or application list.

Trimming: check surface removal and manual touch-up

KRONEN manual preparation table with blue boards and a central waste chute
KRONEN · Manufacturer workstation photograph; general preparation

KRONEN

Manual preparation reference with supported work surfaces and separate waste collection. Define accepted taro portions, trim loss and touch-up before automating the duty.

Bring representative corms and cormels. Specify top/base trim and whether sections are permitted. Compare residual surface material and useful flesh loss rather than selecting a peeling time by analogy with potatoes.

Cutting: trial the prepared taro input

KRONEN GS 10-2 feed and exposed cutting assembly detail
KRONEN GS 10-2 · Mechanical-detail photograph; follow supplier guarding and isolation procedures

KRONEN GS 10-2

Feed and cutting-assembly detail for explanation. Confirm actual taro support and tooling. Operation and service must follow supplier guarding and isolation procedures.

KRONEN KUJ-V cube, strip and slice cutting machine
KRONEN KUJ-V · Manufacturer equipment reference; prepared-input cutting with crop-specific tooling

KRONEN KUJ-V

A fine-cutting family for prepared inputs. Specify taro input fit, tools and desired pieces. This is not proof of whole rings, paste texture or any downstream preservation process.

Provide cut samples and the actual largest prepared pieces. The dicer and belt-cutter references require crop, tooling and input-fit confirmation. Check sticking, cut edges, broken pieces and cleanability during the supplier trial.

Sorting: inspect size and prepared quality separately

Herbort Inspection Belt 85 · Manufacturer workshop photograph; manual inspection reference

Herbort Inspection Belt 85

Manual inspection reference: compare product presentation, visibility, good-product collection and rejects. It does not establish automatic grading or internal-defect detection.

Agree accepted size, visible condition, surface remnants and cut form at the correct points. Retain a rework route. General manual-inspection equipment does not prove optical or internal-defect detection.

Dewatering: separate drainage from thermal processing

KRONEN KS-100 PLUS open lid and removable perforated basket
KRONEN KS-100 PLUS · Manufacturer basket-detail photograph; actual crop programme requires a trial

KRONEN KS-100 PLUS

General removable-basket reference for a supplier-confirmed wet route. Compare actual taro retention, damage and free water. Dry bulbs or dry pneumatic peeling may bypass this duty.

Trial surface-water removal for the actual corm or cut form. Check small-piece retention, free water and damage after holding. A spin-dryer photograph does not validate taro cooking, drying or a crop-specific cycle.

Agree the free-water and damage assessment after a realistic hold, then check the next transfer and doser. Surface-water removal differs from thermal drying, cooking and sterilisation.

Packaging: specify whole-corm and cut-piece packs

KRONEN FLEX L vertical bagging machine
KRONEN FLEX L · Manufacturer equipment reference; feeding, pack and options need confirmation

KRONEN FLEX L

Compare the actual taro feeder, doser, pack and seal clearance. Whole products, bunches and pastes can need different equipment; the image does not establish every feeding or MAP option.

Whole corms need appropriate support and size tolerance. Cut pieces need a configured feeder and doser. Define intended subsequent use and distribution; the machine references do not establish ready-to-eat suitability or shelf life.

If MAP is proposed, obtain the exact gas-handling hardware, film, seals and distribution brief. A general bagger does not establish a gas recipe, shelf life or every optional configuration.

See roots turning against the brush rollers

The manufacturer lists this root family on its washer/peeler page. The film visibly demonstrates pale elongated roots, not a measured trial of every listed crop. Compare contact, support and the proposed brush option with your actual material.

No crop capacity, yield, cleaning, damage or shelf-life guarantee is inferred from the film.

Prepare a taro equipment trial brief

  1. Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
  2. Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
  3. Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
  4. Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
  5. Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.

Questions before choosing taro equipment

Does a clean peeled surface establish a finished taro food?

No. This guide covers preprocessing equipment. The intended cooking, manufacturing and preservation process remains a separate specification and validation task.
