Representative trial and changeover
Agree the actual food pack, label or film, printer settings, ribbon or direct-thermal media and line motion. Trial the shortest and longest content, first and last packs of a batch, restarts and product changes. Check that the displayed and printed information matches the approved template and batch record.
Legibility, placement and handling
Record readable content and label placement on real packages after representative chilling, handling and storage conditions. Assess adhesion, rubbing and condensation for the chosen media. A reader successfully decoding a symbol does not prove the encoded batch data is correct. Agree the reading method and acceptance criteria with the buyer.
Challenge failures and keep evidence
Challenge missing labels, blank or wrong codes, low ribbon or media, failed readers, disconnections and power restarts as applicable. Confirm the actual alarms, stops or reject mechanisms, retained records and authorized template changes. Keep dated trial results and exceptions; no equipment commissioning or code-quality certification is claimed by this directory.
Separate printing from traceability
A readable date, barcode or QR symbol is one output. A traceability workflow also needs approved batch data, links to production and dispatch records, readback checks, controlled corrections and an agreed response to unreadable or wrong codes. Printing does not establish regulatory compliance, shelf life or food safety.

Automatic label application, code reading and visual checks
Compare top-label application, barcode decoding and label presence or position checks. Select exact hardware variants and agree the physical reject path, line interfaces and retained batch records.
