Metal detection or X-ray inspection?

Compare the actual contaminant, food, package and inspection location.

Start with the inspection question

List the foreign material of concern, representative food and package. Compare candidate inspection methods through agreed trials, rather than choosing solely from a headline sensitivity.

Match the inspection location

Official metal-detection application literature distinguishes conveyor, pipeline and vertical-flow arrangements. A conveyor record does not automatically supply a throat or pipeline detector.

Compare equipment families

Metal detection

Specify metal samples, the detector opening and actual product/package signal.

X-ray inspection

Specify foreign material, product thickness and imaging conditions.

Questions to settle before a quotation

  • What foreign-material samples and positions define the agreed demonstration?
  • Which good-product samples establish the false-reject comparison?
  • Does the supplied reject arrangement match the size, mass and rate of the inspected product?

Ask bidders to state trial material, accepted output, losses, utilities, changeover time and scope exclusions in writing. Compare the offered configuration using the same recipe and acceptance criteria.

Common questions

Will X-ray detect every foreign object?

Treat each material and product combination as a trial question; generic marketing examples do not establish a universal guarantee.

Can either method prove microbiological safety?

These records describe physical inspection duties. They do not establish microbial control or a shelf-life claim.

China supplier routes: weighing and foreign-body inspection

Compare weight checking, metal detection and X-ray as separate duties. Match the real food and packaging to the supplied configuration, then agree representative trials, reject handling and records. Catalogue sensitivity and accuracy are conditional, not production guarantees.
