Food labeling and coding equipment

Compare label printing, label application, packaging coding and downstream reading as distinct duties.

Choose the duty first

Use label printers to create adhesive labels; specify a separate applicator for automatic placement. Use a packaging coder to mark variable data onto compatible film or another tested substrate. Use a reader or vision station to check that the expected content is present and readable. Printing, applying, reading and retaining batch records are separate purchasing duties.

Two documented starting points

Prepare the sample pack

State the food and packaging format, surface, condensation, label position, film movement and available space. Submit representative packs and the actual label or code design. For automatic application, ask for positioning accuracy, product handling and missing-label rejection trials; see the documented HERMA 452C and the separate reader and vision-sensor families below.

Separate printing from traceability

A readable date, barcode or QR symbol is one output. A traceability workflow also needs approved batch data, links to production and dispatch records, readback checks, controlled corrections and an agreed response to unreadable or wrong codes. Printing does not establish regulatory compliance, shelf life or food safety.

Automatic label application, code reading and visual checks

Compare top-label application, barcode decoding and label presence or position checks. Select exact hardware variants and agree the physical reject path, line interfaces and retained batch records.
