Mint processing equipment

Distinguish presentation sprigs, loose leaves and chopped mint ingredients.

Crop guide · Mint preprocessing

Start with the retained product

Mint sold as sprigs needs a different stem-retention and feeding brief from loose leaves or chopped ingredients. State variety, leaf condition and accepted stem content. The official KRONEN herb-cutting film explains belt support using parsley/chives; mint is a related herb-handling reference, not an identified mint acceptance run.

Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.

Choose the finished-product route

Sprigs

Inspect → trim specified ends → clean as required → drain → align → pack.

Retain the presentation stem.

Loose leaves

Remove unwanted stems → clean as specified → supported drainage → portion.

Leaf separation requires its own duty.

Chopped ingredients

Prepare retained tissue → trial supported cutting → inspect → dose/pack.

Drying and extraction are separate processes.

Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.

Washing: keep the supplied mint form explicit

Sormac PULSTAR herb washing-family equipment in a manufacturer rendering
Sormac PULSTAR · Manufacturer equipment rendering; actual herb configuration requires a trial

Sormac PULSTAR

Sormac lists fresh-herb washing, with actual crop and process configuration agreed separately. Trial retention, water movement and discharge for mint. No measured cleaning or storage result is adopted.

A loose leaf stream behaves differently from bunched sprigs. Agree wash order, retention and outfeed if wet processing is required. The Sormac herb-family reference does not establish a tested mint configuration or a universal wash requirement.

Include water filling and management, draining, rinse arrangements and cleaning access in the quotation. No chemical dose, microbial reduction or ready-to-eat result is established by a machine image or application list.

Trimming: set the stem boundary before automation

KRONEN manual preparation table with blue boards and a central waste chute
KRONEN · Manufacturer workstation photograph; general preparation

KRONEN

KRONEN supported manual preparation table with separate waste collection. Define retained mint tissue; this is not an automatic peeler, leaf stripper or root recogniser.

Show an accepted presentation sprig and the permitted stem content for loose ingredients. Manual preparation can separate trim waste; the table is not a mechanical leaf stripper. Trial proposed stripping for leaf tears and stem carryover.

Cutting: compare supported feed with actual mint

KRONEN GS 10-2 belt cutting machine and infeed conveyor
KRONEN GS 10-2 · Manufacturer equipment reference

KRONEN GS 10-2

KRONEN supported cutting-family reference. Confirm current tooling and actual mint suitability require confirmation. No every-cut attachment or exact version equivalence is inferred.

The KRONEN film shows parsley/chive-family feeding rather than identified mint. Use it to examine belt support and guide position, then trial mint variety, leaf size and stem flexibility. Cut form, aroma retention and useful yield are not inferred from that different herb.

Sorting: inspect stems as well as leaf appearance

Herbort Inspection Belt 85 · Manufacturer workshop photograph; manual inspection reference

Herbort Inspection Belt 85

Herbort manual inspection reference. Present actual mint surfaces for viewing; no automatic turning, species identification or internal scanning is established.

Spread loose mint without concealing unwanted material. Sprigs need checks along the retained stem and inner leaves. A manual belt does not automatically distinguish mint varieties or measure aromatic compounds.

Dewatering: evaluate drainage after realistic transfer

Sormac SC NextGen horizontal centrifuge with blue supported conveyors
Sormac SC/NextGen · Manufacturer equipment rendering; fresh-herb dewatering family

Sormac SC/NextGen

Sormac lists the SC/NextGen family for herb free-water removal. Trial actual mint loading, retention and discharge. This is surface-water removal, not dried-herb manufacture or a prescribed cycle.

For a wet route, trial mesh retention and compression with actual mint. Compare folded leaves and free water after holding. A basket spinner photograph does not establish an exact mint cycle or a dried-leaf output.

Agree the free-water and damage assessment after a realistic hold, then check the next transfer and doser. Surface-water removal differs from thermal drying, cooking and sterilisation.

Packaging: use a feeder suited to sprigs or leaves

KRONEN FLEX L vertical bagging machine
KRONEN FLEX L · Manufacturer equipment reference; feeding, pack and options need confirmation

KRONEN FLEX L

General packaging-family reference. Confirm actual mint feeding, portion and seals. It does not establish a tray filler, paste filler, gas recipe or shelf-life result.

Sprigs can bridge and loose leaves can compact. Check portions, presentation and seals with the chosen pack. The bagger reference does not establish a mint doser, herbal extraction system, validated gas recipe or storage life.

If MAP is proposed, obtain the exact gas-handling hardware, film, seals and distribution brief. A general bagger does not establish a gas recipe, shelf life or every optional configuration.

Watch supported herb presentation before the cutting chamber

KRONEN names parsley and chives in this GS 10 herb demonstration and still links it from the current GS 10-2 page. Compare support and alignment; historical GS 10 footage does not prove all current variants are identical. For coriander leaf, basil, mint and dill, this is a closely related herb-feeding reference, not an identified crop acceptance run. Trial actual leaf integrity, stem content and smallest useful pieces.

Current manufacturer links and source identity were checked. Confirm the offered version and configuration separately from historical demonstration footage. Original English watch notes provide a text alternative; no full transcript is reproduced. Playback is on YouTube. No crop capacity, yield, cleaning, damage or shelf-life guarantee is inferred from the film.

Prepare a mint equipment trial brief

  1. Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
  2. Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
  3. Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
  4. Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
  5. Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.

Questions before choosing mint equipment

Does a belt cutter remove every mint leaf from its stem?

No. Leaf stripping is a separate task. Define stem retention for sprigs or loose leaves and request an actual separation trial if needed.
