Dryer utilities & interfaces

Define heating, air, vacuum, refrigeration and cleaning connections for the selected duty.

Document the offered utility boundary

  • Identify the chosen duty before requesting power, heating, air, cooling or vacuum services.
  • Record installed ratings separately from expected and measured utility consumption.
  • State inlet-air and ambient design conditions used in the quotation.
  • Assign exhaust, collection, condensate, drainage, access and structural interfaces.
  • Identify cleaning equipment, service isolation and maintenance access in the offered scope.

Separate the equipment packages

Spray and air-based dryers require a defined air and collection arrangement; freeze drying has a different frozen-feed, vacuum and refrigeration boundary. Optional dehumidification, additional drying stages and cleaning systems must be explicitly included or excluded.

Questions to settle before a quotation

  • Who supplies each service at the equipment connection point?
  • What product load and conditions support consumption estimates?
  • Which installation drawings and handover demonstrations will be delivered?

Ask bidders to state trial material, accepted output, losses, utilities, changeover time and scope exclusions in writing. Compare the offered configuration using the same recipe and acceptance criteria.

Common questions

Is connected electrical power the energy used per kilogram?

Distinguish installed power from measured consumption and agree whether the denominator is feed, water removed or accepted product.
