Separation trials & product balance

Compare feed, recovered fractions, residual solids and accepted product.

Describe every material stream

  • Identify feed composition, solids loading, particle variability and incoming condition.
  • List each liquid, solids and recycle outlet and its destination.
  • Record feed, recovered fractions, waste and sampling losses on compatible mass/volume bases.
  • State the accepted composition and test method for each useful fraction.
  • Include startup, discharge, cleaning and product changes in usable-output comparisons.

Recovery and purity answer different questions

More recovered material is not necessarily more accepted product. Compare the amount and composition of each fraction together. Keep sample results distinct from scale-up estimates and contractual guarantees.

Questions to settle before a quotation

  • Which representative and difficult feed variations will be tested?
  • How are residual solids, cross-phase carryover and product losses measured?
  • Which rates and recovery figures are measured, calculated or guaranteed?

Ask bidders to state trial material, accepted output, losses, utilities, changeover time and scope exclusions in writing. Compare the offered configuration using the same recipe and acceptance criteria.

Equipment trial & quotation guide

Equipment routes

Food decanter centrifuges

Continuous decanter family for defined food and beverage separation duties.

Food three-phase centrifuges

Continuous three-phase centrifuge family for solids and two immiscible liquids.

Food membrane filtration systems

Engineered cross-flow membrane systems selected for the actual food stream.

Food falling-film evaporators

Falling-film evaporation family for a defined liquid concentration duty.

Dairy separators

Explore the existing milk separation and bacteria-removal equipment duty.

Edible-oil separators

Explore an application-specific oil separation duty.

Liquid-egg filters

Compare a product-specific filtration duty separately from membrane separation.

Common questions

Does a separator remove every contaminant?

Specify the exact separation target and acceptance method. Mechanical or membrane separation does not establish removal of every contaminant or a food-safety treatment.
