Choose the process and supply boundary

Confirm the exact pack process and gas-handling configuration before treating a vacuum machine or traysealer as MAP capable.

Seal-only tray

Closing a lidded tray does not itself create a modified atmosphere. Ask which evacuation or gas-handling modules are actually supplied.

MAP tray or bag

Specify the pack and the offered evacuation/gas introduction method, gas connections and control. Not every chamber vacuum machine includes gas provision.

Vacuum skin

Skin film conforms to the product and support in its intended process. It is a different pack route from a gas headspace and requires appropriate materials and tooling.

Build the product trial

1. Trial the real food, tray or pouch and film; examine seal cleanliness, leakage, deformation and handling after packing.
2. Agree how residual gas or oxygen is measured where relevant, who supplies the gases and how the proposed mix is established for the food. No universal gas recipe is supplied here.
3. Include gas consumption basis, tool changes, coding, inspection and rejects in the offer. Shelf life needs product and distribution validation; MAP capability alone does not prove it.

Compare a complete quotation

Give each bidder the same product, production schedule, installation constraints and acceptance brief. Identify the supplying entity, exact configuration, tools, utilities, transfers, controls, commissioning, training and spare parts. Separate an advertised machine rating from accepted finished output after losses and stoppages. Obtain current price, delivery and service terms in a dated offer.

MULTIVAC describes traysealers for seal-only, modified-atmosphere and vacuum-skin processes. Tecnovac separately describes modified-atmosphere technology and chamber-machine routes. Capability must be confirmed for the specific machine, tooling and pack material.
