Tangerine and citrus hybrids processing equipment

Use the supplied cultivar and accepted peel condition to set the handling and packing brief.

Crop guide · Tangerine and citrus hybrids preprocessing

Start with the retained product

Tangerines and citrus hybrids overlap with other commercial citrus names, but their actual size, shape and peel behaviour still matter to machinery selection. Keep the supplied cultivar on the trial sheet. The mandarin demonstration is a closely related handling reference, not proof that every hybrid accepts the same supports or settings.

Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.

Choose the finished-product route

Whole fresh fruit

Receive → inspect → configured washing → grade → remove surface water → pack.

Peeling, cutting and extraction are bypassed.

Prepared peel or flesh

Clean whole fruit → define retained peel, pith or flesh → prepare/cut → inspect → portion.

Zesting and complete peeling make different products.

Juice preparation

Clean → size/present for the selected extractor → extract → separate peel, seeds and pulp as specified.

Finishing, preservation and liquid filling are separate downstream duties.

Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.

Washing: clean the surface before opening the fruit

Compare small and large fruit from the actual hybrid lot, including irregular shoulders and peel defects. Trial brush or spray contact and each transfer. State the required final appearance; do not apply a mandarin washing setup merely because the commercial names overlap.

Trimming: specify which part of the peel is retained

KRONEN

KRONEN manual preparation workstation. Use accepted tangerine and citrus hybrids samples to define retained tissue and waste; this is not an automatic peeling or destemming system.

Keep whole-pack peel retention separate from zest and flesh preparation. For hybrids with different peel attachment, show the desired retained pith, membranes and flesh. PND describes citrus zest removal, but exact cultivar fit and depth require a trial rather than an assumed complete peeling result.

Cutting: choose slices, segments or extraction

KRONEN GS 10-2 · Manufacturer equipment reference

KRONEN GS 10-2

KRONEN supported cutting-family reference. Confirm preparation, fruit support, blade and desired cut with actual tangerine and citrus hybrids; segment separation and extraction are distinct duties.

Whole-fruit grading bypasses cutting. For ingredient pieces, agree seeds, segment integrity and juice leakage. A general belt cutter illustrates supported cutting only; it is not a verified hybrid-citrus segmenting system. Extraction uses a separate citrus machine and fruit-size brief.

Sorting: define classes before choosing sensors

UNITEC UNICAL 600

UNITEC mandarin handling photograph. For tangerine and citrus hybrids, confirm actual fruit dimensions, supports and grade decisions; related layout is not an identical supplied line.

Set size, shape, colour and external-defect classes around the actual cultivar. The UNITEC mandarin references explain a related sorting layout. Check singulation and transfer of unusually shaped hybrids before transferring a roller or support design.

Dewatering: remove surface water for the next operation

Agree surface-water limits at the next packer and check peel marks after the intended hold. An air-removal stage should be evaluated with the actual fruit. Drying peel for ingredients is a different downstream operation.

Packaging: match the packer to whole fruit or ingredients

UNITEC citrus collection

Sorted citrus collection before final packing. Confirm the actual tangerine and citrus hybrids package, filler and transfer height; this is not a complete sealer.

Specify the largest and smallest fruit per pack, net or carton, including any required count and weight bands. The illustrated sorted-fruit collection lanes precede final packing; a netter, bagger or carton filler must be selected for the intended package. Prepared flesh and juice need separate dosing systems.

This historical UNITEC mandarin demonstration explains whole-fruit handling rather than peeling or juice extraction. It is directly relevant to a mandarin packhouse and a related reference for specified tangerines and citrus hybrids. Confirm the current offered machinery, actual cultivar and accepted handling marks separately.

Prepare a tangerine and citrus hybrids equipment trial brief

  1. Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
  2. Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
  3. Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
  4. Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
  5. Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.

Questions before choosing tangerine and citrus hybrids equipment

Can one citrus machine deliver whole packs, peeled segments and bottled juice?

These are separate routes. Agree the retained product first, then specify the washing, preparation, extraction, finishing and packing interfaces required for that route.
