Crop guide · Pomegranate preprocessing
Start with the retained product
Compare whole fruit, prepared edible portions and processed ingredients before combining machines. Attributed equipment and process images below explain the different duties; actual fruit, tooling and accepted output remain part of the supply specification.
Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.
Choose the finished-product route
Whole fresh fruit
receive, clean as specified, inspect, grade and pack.
Compare actual input and accepted output before choosing the line.
Arils
prepare fruit, separate peel and membranes, inspect the retained arils and portion.
Compare actual input and accepted output before choosing the line.
Juice
separate accepted material, press and clarify or retain cloud as specified before downstream filling.
Compare actual input and accepted output before choosing the line.
Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.
Washing: match cleaning to the destination

Bertuzzi
A whole-fruit wash and transfer reference before further preparation. It does not establish a cleaning recipe or aril quality.
Bertuzzi illustrates reception, washing and inspection ahead of pomegranate processing. Specify incoming contamination, exterior condition and the handoff into exposed arils. The installation photograph does not establish a universal cleaning programme.
Trimming: separate peel, seed and shell decisions

Bertuzzi MeGra
The application describes separating arils from peel and membranes. Confirm retained aril condition and unwanted material in a representative trial; no numerical separation or recovery claim is adopted.
Whole packs bypass aril separation. For ingredients, Bertuzzi identifies its MeGra deseeding family for separating arils from peel and membranes. Define what should remain in the accepted stream, rather than inferring pure arils or a yield from the machine photograph.
Cutting: choose pieces, reduction or extraction

Bertuzzi
Pressing extracts juice and changes the retained product. It is not a required stage for intact ready-to-pack arils. Downstream clarification and filling are separate interfaces.
Aril separation is different from juice pressing. The manufacturer illustrates a membrane press downstream for juice extraction. Intact-aril packs should not be routed through a juice press; confirm accepted aril integrity and any unwanted seed crushing in the actual trial.
Sorting: inspect the retained product
Inspect whole-fruit condition before opening, then residual peel, membrane pieces and damaged arils after separation. Juice screening or clarification is a further duty and does not replace inspection of a retail aril pack.
Dewatering: distinguish water removal from processing
Control wash-water carryover around the separation and collection stages. Pressing and clarification change the retained juice/solids stream; they are not surface drying. Record useful juice, arils and waste separately in the output balance.
Packaging: match the feeder and final pack

Bertuzzi
A bulk processing-line filling reference, not a whole-fruit or fresh-cut packer. Product preservation and filling must be designed as one system; the image alone establishes no validated treatment or storage life.
Whole-fruit cartons, portioned aril cups and bulk juice require different feeders and closure systems. Confirm drops, pooling and seal contamination for arils. A bulk filler does not establish preservation or storage life for the finished product.
Compare the actual retained product in a supplier trial
For pomegranate, ask the maker to demonstrate the intended whole-fruit, prepared-piece or ingredient route. No unrelated generic film is substituted here. The equipment photographs and written source descriptions explain the roles without requiring video playback.
Prepare a pomegranate equipment trial brief
- Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
- Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
- Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
- Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
- Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.
Questions before choosing pomegranate equipment
Can one machine perform all pomegranate preparation stages?
Compare the required input and retained output at each interface. Whole-fruit handling, opening, peeling or seed removal, cutting, refining and packing are separate duties. A machine photograph is not evidence of a complete processing line.
