Crop guide · Blackcurrant preprocessing
Start with the retained product
Define the incoming blackcurrant and the finished product before choosing machines. Whole fresh product, frozen ingredients and further-processed material need different line interfaces.
Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.
Choose the finished-product route
Destemmed whole fruit
clean as specified, strip stems, inspect and collect.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Frozen fruit
prepare whole berries, freeze and classify before packing.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Juice or puree
prepare and inspect fruit, reduce and separate as specified.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.
Washing: match cleaning to the destination
UNIMASZ lists currants among its washer applications. Agree wash and stripping order for the incoming stems, leaves and berry condition; inspect material caught in the waste and retained fruit streams.
Trimming: define the tissue to retain

Herbort 28 BS/C
Herbort explicitly lists blackcurrants and redcurrants. This is an exterior view, not exposed roller action; cherry capacity figures are not adopted for currants.
Herbort explicitly names blackcurrants for the 28 BS/C destemmer family. Its paired rollers and turning device provide a concrete equipment reference. The published cherry capacity is not a blackcurrant capacity.
Cutting: bypass or specify deliberate reduction
Whole fruit bypasses cutting. For juice or puree, define reduction and separation duties after preparation, including the retained skin and seeds; a destemmer is not a press.
Sorting: separate grading from preparation

Herbort Inspection Belt 85
A manual inspection conveyor. Agree the viewing and reject procedure; this photograph does not establish optical or internal-defect detection.
Inspect residual stalks, leaves and damaged fruit after stripping. A redcurrant sorting application does not by itself establish a blackcurrant sensor programme. Keep any proposed optical configuration pending exact application confirmation.
Dewatering: control free water
Compare supported drainage after the wet steps with the next operation. Record berries in waste and free liquid at discharge rather than judging the line only by nominal feed rate.
Packaging: specify the feeder and pack

KRONEN FLEX L
A general bagging-family reference. Confirm actual fruit state, feeder, film and portion. Retail tray filling and liquid filling are separate duties.
Specify whole fresh or frozen ingredient packs separately from liquid or puree filling. Check berry sticking and feeder damage, and retain lot identity through rework.
Blackcurrant manufacturer reference
Herbort links this 28 BS family reference from a page explicitly listing blackcurrants and redcurrants. The crop shown in the film has not been independently established here. Obtain an actual blackcurrant trial of the proposed rollers.

Questions to compare with the proposed equipment
- How do stems enter the roller gap?
- What remains in the accepted berry stream?
- Does the film show blackcurrants or a different listed fruit?
These comparison questions follow the written equipment description. Video content and playback have not been independently reviewed. No timestamps, measured result or verified playback claim is supplied. The written guide stands on its own.
Prepare a blackcurrant equipment trial brief
- Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
- Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
- Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
- Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
- Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.
Questions before choosing blackcurrant equipment
Does this establish a ready-to-run blackcurrant line?
No. Manufacturer references explain equipment roles. Agree actual input, retained product, supplied configuration, interfaces and acceptance samples in a supplier trial.
