Crop guide · Grape preprocessing
Start with the retained product
Define the incoming grape and the finished product before choosing machines. Whole fresh product, frozen ingredients and further-processed material need different line interfaces.
Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.
Choose the finished-product route
Table-grape bunches
trim, inspect, grade and support bunches through packing.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Loose table grapes
clean as specified, destem without deliberate crushing, inspect and portion.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Juice or wine ingredients
receive, sort, destem and optionally crush before the separately specified extraction process.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.
Washing: match cleaning to the destination
Define bunch retention, incoming bloom and the destination before choosing wet or dry handling. Confirm cleaning and transfer damage with actual fruit; a wine reception line is not automatically a table-grape washing line.
Trimming: define the tissue to retain

KRONEN GDM 35
KRONEN describes controlled rolling separation for table grapes. Compare the required intact loose berry with bunch-packing and crushed-ingredient routes.
KRONEN describes GDM 35 for separating table grapes using controlled rolling movement and adjustable gaps. Diemme describes destemmer-crushers for a different processing destination. Keep these equipment roles distinct.
Cutting: bypass or specify deliberate reduction

Diemme Kappa
Diemme describes independent destemming and crushing units. Deliberate crushing belongs to processing, not intact table-grape preparation.
Intact table grapes bypass deliberate crushing. In the Diemme processing route, destemming and crushing are separate machine units. Seed damage, juice release and the accepted crushed product must be specified rather than assumed from the model name.
Sorting: separate grading from preparation

Herbort Inspection Belt 85
A manual inspection conveyor. Agree the viewing and reject procedure; this photograph does not establish optical or internal-defect detection.
For bunches, inspect bunch condition and damaged or loose berries. For individual grapes, inspect residual stems and handling damage after destemming. Pressing and internal-quality detection require additional equipment evidence.
Dewatering: control free water
The GDM 35 source describes an air-knife interface associated with moisture and grip. It does not establish complete post-wash drying or a shelf-life result. Verify free water at the actual final transfer.
Packaging: specify the feeder and pack
Whole bunch cartons or punnets require support for the bunch shape. Loose berries need suitable portioning; juice uses liquid handling and filling. These are different line endings.
Compare actual product in a supplier trial
For grapes, request intact bunches, loose table grapes or deliberately crushed ingredients according to the intended route. These are different acceptance trials.
Prepare a grape equipment trial brief
- Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
- Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
- Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
- Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
- Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.
Questions before choosing grape equipment
Does this establish a ready-to-run grape line?
No. Manufacturer references explain equipment roles. Agree actual input, retained product, supplied configuration, interfaces and acceptance samples in a supplier trial.

Equipment photographs and output references are identified beside each image. Historical installation photographs are labelled. Footage and machine images belong to the named sources and are not Food Machinery IQ installations or independent acceptance tests. Source addresses are plain text.
