Crop guide · Kumquat preprocessing
Start with the retained product
Define the incoming kumquat and the finished product before choosing machines. Whole fresh product, frozen ingredients and further-processed material need different line interfaces.
Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.
Choose the finished-product route
Whole fresh fruit
wash as specified, inspect, remove surface water, size-grade and weigh into boxes.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Prepared pieces
inspect fruit, retain or remove peel as ordered, cut and inspect seeds.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Preserves
prepare accepted whole or cut fruit before the separately specified cooking and filling process.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.
Washing: match cleaning to the destination

FstSort kumquat washer
The photograph shows washing and discharge, not the size-grading mechanism. The manufacturer describes downstream roller-gap grading and box weighing separately.
FstSort describes a kumquat line with water reception, spray and brush washing. Trial actual fruit against brush contact, water residence and elevator discharge. Inspect skin damage after holding as well as immediately after washing.
Trimming: define the tissue to retain

KRONEN
A manual preparation and rework station, not an automatic peeler, segment separator or calyx cutter.
Define retained peel explicitly. A whole-kumquat packing line does not need a citrus flesh-peeling stage. Remove unwanted stalks and damaged fruit without presenting a brush washer as a destemmer.
Cutting: bypass or specify deliberate reduction
Bypass cutting for whole packs. For slices or halves, compare fruit orientation, seed fragments and juice leakage; specify a cutter and seed-checking method separately from the grader.
Sorting: separate grading from preparation

Herbort Inspection Belt 85
A manual inspection conveyor. Agree the viewing and reject procedure; this photograph does not establish optical or internal-defect detection.
The manufacturer describes roller-gap size grading and manual inspection. Diameter classes are different from optical defect detection. Check borderline sizes and misshapen fruit at each collection outlet.
Dewatering: control free water
Air removal of surface moisture is part of the described line. Inspect the lower contact surface and fruit accumulation at transfers; do not confuse surface drying with dehydration for dried snacks.
Packaging: specify the feeder and pack
The illustrated line includes manual box weighing at grade outlets. Confirm final box size, target-weight procedure and fruit support. Retail punnet filling or tray sealing requires its own downstream equipment.
Kumquat manufacturer reference
FstSort publishes this kumquat-line reference. Its website describes washing, surface-water removal, size grading and box weighing. Confirm which stations the proposed line includes.

Questions to compare with the proposed equipment
- Where does fruit leave the water?
- How is surface moisture removed?
- Do the outlets classify size or visible defects?
These comparison questions follow the written equipment description. Video content and playback have not been independently reviewed. No timestamps, measured result or verified playback claim is supplied. The written guide stands on its own.
Prepare a kumquat equipment trial brief
- Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
- Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
- Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
- Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
- Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.
Questions before choosing kumquat equipment
Does this establish a ready-to-run kumquat line?
No. Manufacturer references explain equipment roles. Agree actual input, retained product, supplied configuration, interfaces and acceptance samples in a supplier trial.
