Crop guide · Pomelo preprocessing
Start with the retained product
Define the incoming pomelo and the finished product before choosing machines. Whole fresh product, frozen ingredients and further-processed material need different line interfaces.
Compare washing, trimming or peeling, cutting, sorting, dewatering and packaging below. Attributed manufacturer images explain equipment roles. General family references require the actual crop configuration and a representative trial.
Choose the finished-product route
Whole fruit
receive, inspect, clean as specified, grade and support in cartons.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Prepared flesh
clean exterior, remove outer peel and pith, separate segments, inspect and portion.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Peel ingredients
specify retained zest or pith before selecting the peeling depth and collection system.
Agree the retained product and acceptance samples before selecting the complete line.
Agree pre-cleaning, trimming, cutting and final-wash order for the incoming material and intended use. These routes are specification aids, not universal process settings.
Washing: match cleaning to the destination
Compare incoming surface contamination with the required whole-fruit finish. Specify supported handling for the largest accepted fruit and verify every transfer clearance. A small-citrus washer is not automatically a pomelo washer.
Trimming: define the tissue to retain

ASTRA KA-750PM
A large-citrus manufacturer photograph; pomelo use is separately described by ASTRA. Confirm actual fruit dimensions, retained peel layer, blade and current machine revision.

ASTRA
An output reference explaining the zest/pith choice. It is not proof of supplied settings, yield or membrane removal.
ASTRA explicitly describes pomelo use for its large-citrus peeling family. Distinguish removal of coloured zest, thick white pith and segment membranes: these produce different outputs. Obtain accepted samples for each retained layer.
Cutting: bypass or specify deliberate reduction

KRONEN
A manual preparation and rework station, not an automatic peeler, segment separator or calyx cutter.
Segment separation and membrane removal are separate from exterior peeling. For pieces, state whether intact juice vesicles or cut segments are required; inspect damaged flesh and free juice after handling.
Sorting: separate grading from preparation

Herbort Inspection Belt 85
A manual inspection conveyor. Agree the viewing and reject procedure; this photograph does not establish optical or internal-defect detection.
Whole-fruit size grading and prepared-flesh inspection require separate acceptance samples. Include residual pith, membranes, seeds and damaged segments in the ingredient brief. No citrus sorter image establishes internal inspection performance.
Dewatering: control free water
Distinguish rinse-water carryover from juice released by damaged flesh. Trial supported drainage and short transfers, recording juice loss and retained segment integrity. Thermal dehydration is a separate process.
Packaging: specify the feeder and pack
Specify cartons for intact fruit or supported trays and portions for prepared flesh. Check compression, pooling and seal contamination. Packaging does not establish a validated storage life.
Pomelo manufacturer reference
ASTRA links this pomelo reference from its application article. Compare retained zest, white pith and edible flesh. Exterior peeling does not establish segment-membrane removal.

Questions to compare with the proposed equipment
- Which layer is actually being removed?
- How is the fruit supported during blade travel?
- Does the clip show membrane removal or only exterior peeling?
These comparison questions follow the written equipment description. Video content and playback have not been independently reviewed. No timestamps, measured result or verified playback claim is supplied. The written guide stands on its own.
Prepare a pomelo equipment trial brief
- Bring representative input: variety, maturity, size, incoming condition and seasonal variation.
- Show accepted and rejected samples: retained skin, leaf, stem, head or cut form, useful rework and finished pack.
- Record useful output: trim/peel loss, damage, fines, missed defects, free water and rejected packs.
- Test interfaces: product supports, drops, screens, drainage, dose control, stops and restart.
- Confirm supplied configuration: safe access, guards, tooling, water circuits, utilities, cleaning and training.
Questions before choosing pomelo equipment
Does this establish a ready-to-run pomelo line?
No. Manufacturer references explain equipment roles. Agree actual input, retained product, supplied configuration, interfaces and acceptance samples in a supplier trial.
